Dear Colleagues and Partners
We wish to inform you that as per the national lockdown requirements for the COVID-19 in South Africa (from 26 March to 17 April 2020), that all Rhodes University Environmental Learning Research Centre staff and scholars will be working remotely until further notice. The ELRC buildings on the Rhodes University campus will, therefore, be closed. Should you have any queries, please contact Samantha Abdul on s.abdul@ru.ac.za who will forward your message to the relevant person.During this time we will continue to work with a generative approach to environmental education and social learning, noting that the environmental issues that we deal with are closely intersected with many of the dynamics of the COVID-19 outbreak.

We urge all in our community to make use of their educational knowledge and expertise in supporting high quality public and community education in whichever community or context you find yourself. This can be an invaluable contribution to building social solidarity and community action competence at this time. Please also look out for those less well prepared to manage the pandemic and its effects.

We will be hosting a number of seminars regularly for our scholars online and will keep the Friday ELRC Seminar series operational each week as per normal. We will also continue to communicate with and work with our various partners on the projects and programmes that we are working on together.

We wish all good health and well being at this time.

Heila, Eureta and ELRC staff and scholars
